A cosmopolitan artist, Jingwei forged his musicianship across three continents. From his early professional foundations at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music to advanced studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen in Germany, he cultivated a deep sensitivity to European stylistic traditions. He further expanded his artistic scope in the United States, earning a Master’s from the Mannes School of Music before pursuing his DMA at the University of Utah. This transcontinental trajectory has resulted in a performance style that synthesizes rigorous German discipline with American versatility.
Alongside his performance career, Jingwei’s practice extends into electroacoustic composition and recording. His projects range from 5.1 surround soundscapes and interactive Max/MSP environments to experimental spatial-audio techniques for classical piano. By merging these disciplines, he explores how digital tools can offer new perspectives on the acoustic instrument for modern audiences and fellow artists, creating a distinct intersection between performance, pedagogy, and music technology.
